About this blog

‘A walk a day’ keeps the doctor away. Well, there’s more to health than walking and apples alone but exercise and healthy food are two big reasons we stay healthy.

I’m always fascinated to learn about what affects my health, and that of my family, friends, coworkers and neighborhood. It’s more than just the choices we make, but the factors which affect those choices. What’s available to us, what’s easiest, what feels normal and how much we know. There are always bigger factors at play.

So what’s affecting health in San Francisco?

This blog is to discuss and record my observations, experiences and ‘uh-huh moments’ about what’s affecting health in this new city I live in. To keep my public health brain alive and to keep learning.

Disclaimer: I work for the San Francisco Housing Action Coalition, volunteer on the BIKES ONboard project of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and serve as a member of the Caltrain Bicycle Advisory Committee, however all comments and opinions on this blog are my own.
